Unused strip for December 3, 2023
Added 2023-12-02 19:56:03 +0000 UTCThe first draft of this strip took a divergent turn half-way through where Joyce got offended at being called a hot chick and then she and Dorothy curbstomp both Joe and the direction of the rest of this scene. I like the strip, but I think Joyce would rather be playfully tease-y at Joe at this stage, PLUS she would see the inherent hilarity of Joe admitting he finds her attractive after... so long being that one distant jerk, and, again, it kind of smothers the "exercise room" story to death with a pillow. Where do we go from here now? I guess Dorothy and Joyce are on the treadmills now and Joe goes home alone and sadly jerks it, I dunno. I'd stranded myself away from any other story beats I wanted to hit.
plus i showed the unfinished strip to maggie and she kind of just shrugged, and so i rewrote it and got this bit of gold:
she liked this one better
(not that i don't miss "joyce i like your sweatpants" and "thanks! they're BAGGY!")

The "thanks, they're BAGGY" interaction is great, but I like her interaction with Dorothy in the follow up strip better. I'm enjoying the Dorothy's struggles storyline, not for Schadenfreude reasons; she's more sympathetic.
